About Us

ChefTap is made by Shawn Holland and Kate Dobroth. We have been developing software together on and off since 2001, and cooking together since 2007.

Shawn Holland, developer

Shawn has been developing software for over fifteen years, and has been focusing exclusively on mobile apps since 2007. Shawn began to learn about artificial intelligence when he worked at Lernout and Hauspie, and this background helped him to develop ChefTap’s recipe recognizer. He has also worked at Kibits, PatientKeeper, eDial, Alcatel-Lucent, and Artisoft.

Shawn likes to cook French and Southwestern food. He also loves grilling, especially on our backyard firepit. His favorite cooking sites are davidlebovitz.com and Epicurious.com.

Kate Dobroth, designer

Kate has been designing user interfaces for a wide variety of products for over twenty years. She has been focusing on mobile apps and websites since 2009. She has worked at Modo Labs, GTE/Verizon, Verizon Wireless, eDial, Alcatel-Lucent, American Institutes for Research, and BBN Speech Products. She has a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology from Northeastern University.
